mengait dengan kaedah loop stitch ( jarum satu)

saya selalu nampak bag yang dikait menggunakan kaedah ni dan selalu tertanya tanya apakah nama kaitan ini dan macammana nak kaitnya... ye la kalau dah tak tahu nama nak google pun tak tahu nak google apa. hinggalah saya membeli sebuah buku 2nd hand hasil karya PAM DAWSON. barulah saya tahu variasi kaitan ini dinamakan loop stitch. untuk mengait loop stitch ini tidaklah sesusah yang saya bayangkan. ia cuma kaitan menggunakan kaedah single crochet, bezakan satu jari dibelikan pada benang ketika mengait hingga membentuk loop.

disini saya sertakan video bagaimana saya mengait loop stitch. maaf jika ada kekurangan dan feedback pada video ini amat dialu-alukan. jom kait sama-sama.

sebelum menggunakan kaeadh magic loop ni punya la malas nak buat stokin .. tau le kalau nak kait stokin guna kaedah knitting ni kena guna 3+1 jarum kait. masa kait tu terkehel2 handle jarum dan benang..tak suka..tak suka.Lama dah dengar guna magic loop method pakai circular needle ni.. tapi tak sampai seru nak try .. tetapi bila saya beli benang kat daiso n benang tu nampak sangat delicious untuk dijadikan stokin kat kaki mungil baby saya tu saya merajinkan diri belajar teknik ni... ooooohh... senang je rupanya... ingatkan susah... kalau tau camni dah lama guna teknik ni..

jadi kat sini saya nak share cammana saya gunakan teknik ni. magic loop in kita gunakan bila circular needle kita terlebih panjang untuk mengait dalam bentuk gelung.maknanya gelung kita tu kecik tapi needle kita tu panjang.saya nak mengucapkan tahniah pada whoever yang cipta kaedah yang very effective dan senang ni...tahniah.. tahnia...

a pair of thick socks

Ini yarn yang saya beli dari daiso masa pegi KL last weekend. the yarn tebal la jugak. kait guna knitting needle 4 mm. ini first saya kait gunakan kaedah magic loop. tak pernah try lagi. so guna circular needle panjangnya +-40 cm saya try kait guna kaedah magic loop.malangnya untuk pair yang kat atas tu saya terdrop the stictch n bila saya pickup balik tersalah pickup sebab tu nampak cam awkward sikit... bila sedar dah banyak kait malas la nak bukak lagipun stokin ni kait untuk baby pakai time tido je..so belasah je la kannn...heehe.

okeh ni saya nak share pattern yang saya gunakan untuk stokin ni... stocking ni tebal enough and bile bahagian atasnya kita lipat dah kira macam jadi booties untuk baby..cantik sangat... cuma be careful je jangan jadi macam saya terdrop stitch pastu malas nak repair pulak tu...so the pattern is:

INILAH SAYA

saya percaya ramai antara yang membaca blog saya ni memang hampir2 hari hari mengait. ada yang macam dah sampai kategori addicted sebab kalau sehari tak pegang jarum rasa cam tak lengkap hidup ini. Tak kira balik kampung atau pergi bercuti sekali pun mesti ada projek mengait yang dikepit bersama ( saya tahu sebab saya pun macam tu...:-)). saya ni start mengait dari umur saya 12 tahun. so walaupun kadang2 bila terlalu sibuk dengan benda2 lain pernah berbulan-bulan saya tidak memegang jarum tapi kalau dah pegang tu memang susah nak lepas.

bayangkanlah kalau dah hari2 mengait mestilah banyak projek yang boleh disiapkan. contohnya tahun lepas sahaja sepanjang saya pam susu diofis sahaja lebih dari sepuluh barang yang saya siapkan dari stokin bayi, kasut, baju sejuk, dress dan banyak lagi. saya menyusukan sepenuhnya baby saya hingga kini. di ofis saya gunakan pam spectra 3 yang ada dual shield. ada teknik yang saya gunakan dan saya boleh pam susu saya tanpa memegang shield tersebut... handsfree la kiranya. untuk yang pernah pam susu pasti tahu betapa malasnya nak untuk pam sampai 2 atau 3 kali sehari. tapi bila masa yang sama saya gunakan juga untuk mengait... wah amazing... memang jadi rajin betul... malah ternanti nanti..lambatnya nak pegi pam susu ni...:-)

Bila saya baca buku crocheting for fun saya terfikir jugak..selama ni kenapa saya tak cuba jual apa yang saya kait. bukannya tak ada yang order kat saya tapi saya selalu menolak dengan sahsyatnya sebab saya tahu saya takkan mampu siapkan order on time.Ada juga yang kata , jual je item yang dah ready made.... buat siap2 lepas tu jual la... tapi tah le... tak pernah pulak saya jual apa yang saya buat. selalunya saya akan kait untuk 4 anak perempuan saya dan anak2 saudara serta anak kawan2 saya secara percuma sahaja.

satu2 nya benda yang saya jual ialah topi baby ini. itupun setelah kawan saya beriya-iya meminta saya kaitkan untuk dia kerana dia rasa topi ini sangat cantik. Saya jual topi ini dengan harga RM25 tapi kawan saya bayar RM30 kerana katanya dia tak sampai hati nak bayar harga saya bila tengok hasil kaitan dan benang yang saya gunakan untuk kait topi itu.Walau bagaimanapun semangat mengait saya masih begitu. pesanan yang datang selepas itu tetap saya tolak atas alasan saya tiada masa. Tapi kalau tiada masa mengapa hampir setiap hari saya mengait...hmmm....

GILA BENANG?

bila memandang longgokan benang di penjuru bilik sempit di apartment kami ini membuatkan saya terfikir betapa banyaknya wang yang telah saya keluarkan untuk membeli benang.Itu tidak termasuk lagi dengan apa yang saya simpan di dalam bilik menjahit saya di satu lagi rumah (atas faktor dekat dengan tempat kerja saya tinggal di apartment pada hari bekerja dan balik kerumah satu lagi hanya pada hujung minggu, kadang2 tak balik pun... malas)

Anak saya pula kata ..mama ni macam berniaga benang la... mama jual la benang yang mama beli banyak2 ni..tak boleh...mama sayang la benang2 ni..macammana nak jual...( pulak dah). the good thing is bila join group facebook saya tahu yang saya tidak sendirian.... rupanya ramai lagi orang yang gila benang kat luar sana....cuma ... diorang ialah pengait2 yang menjual hasil kaitan mereka... tetapi saya??

satu masalah yang selalu aku hadapi masa mengait ialah... i love to crochet or knit garment. aku bukanlah orang yang gemar mengait alas meja ke..tutup tv, chairback dan sebagainya. so satu masalah ialah benang yang ada dijual kat kedai2 biasa di Malaysia ni benang akrilik. tau la kalau benang akrilik ni dibuat baju dan dipakai diiklim Malaysia yang panas mengerlip ni..pasti rasa cam nak terbakar je dalam baju tu. antara brand benang yang biasa aku jumpa kat malaysia ni ialah benang minlon ( berlambak benang ni) dan Nona. Dulu ada brand ondori tapi sekarang ni memang tak pernah jumpa dah.

Bukan tak de benang cotton tapi yang paling tak tahan , harganya... mahal yang amat... boleh tembus poket kalau beli untuk cukupkan satu baju. so sekang ni dah dapat beli benang cotton yang murah2 ni direct terus dari kilangnya kat turki. aku pun ada jadi reseller untuk jual benang ni, memnadangkan betapa susahnya nak dapatkan benang2 cotton ni aku telah order banyak2 dan jual kat my yarn store. memang benang2 cotton ni mendapat permintaan yang sangan tinggi. sekejap je nak kena restock balik. Chinese especially adore this type of yarn very much.

so untuk sesapa yang berada kat penang dan sekitarnya kalau nak drop by untuk beli benang kat kedaiku jangan lupa ke kompleks bukit jambul. directionnya ada kat http://facebook.com/deenorh . Golden Dragon , Chinatown Singapore

I just went back from Golden Dragon craft store , located near the ChinaTown Singapore. Kat sana beli la beberapa items as souvernir for myself... nothing can make a crafters happier more than yarns and hook.sebenarnya harganya tak le murah pun. compare dengan what i can get in penang , penang jauh lagi murah. dah le sekang ni singapore exchange tinggi so end up memang mahal giler la kalau nak compare ngan penang. tapi dah namanya nak souvernir untuk diri sendiri beli jugak la a few things... tengok2 mak ai sampai $63 kalau X ngan 2.5 dan RM159... uhuhuhu...kalau kat ATUZ seberang jaya dah dapat satu bakul besar ni... ni cuma masuk dalam plastik cinonet tu pun tak penuh.... so these are the items yang telah kubeli:

1. Benang sirdar smiley stripe...cantik banget...cadang nak buat dress untuk sikecik..tak pasti lagi nak crochet atau knit... nanti nak cari pattern. benang ni aku rasa pricenya okay la..consider murah..kalau convert duit mesia dalam RM 19 seketul... beli dua ketul je untuk mengelakkan lubang dalam poket semakin membesar..benang ni 100% bamboo...pasti selesa dipakai... tak sabar nak buat ni.. tapi banyak projek WIP lagi... so memang kena bersabar( kalau mampu la)

2.Counter untuk bilang row knitting. harganya kalau lepas convert ... ubby bising tu...kata nak pegi universal studio... tak mandi2 lagi..anak2 semua dah siap... okeh sambung balik karang kalau larat yer... bye...

simple mohair loop scarf for the baby

Hi there... long time no see... im quite bz lately..eventhough i still crochet and knit at any chance i just dont have time to update this blog...well...i can crochet and knit at red lights to and fro work every morning but sure a cannot update blog while stop at red trafic lights... hehehe..
the scarf is just simply crochet in DC using mohair yarn.

How to make pompoms
1. STEP #1 : Cut 2 cardboard discs, between 1 1/2 in. and 3 in. diameter (depending on desired finished size) with a 1/4 in hole in the center. Cut strand of yarn 4 yd. to 6 yd. long, run double in yarn needle.Wrap yarn through center hole and over edges as shown in diagram.

2. STEP #2 : When hole is well-filled and discs are covered, cut around edges with sharp scissors.

3. STEP #3" Slip a piece of yarn between discs, wrap a time or two and tie. Pull the discs off and fluff up the pom-pons

single cast on juga dikenali sebagai backward loop cast on. cara cast on ini adalah cara yang paling senang. walaupun begitu agak kalau kita baru belajar mengait agak payah jugak untuk kita mendapatkan kaitan yang sama rata dan tidak senget kalau kita guna kaedah ni.untuk guna cara cast on ni...row pertama kita perlu dilakukan dalam row purl.

mummy's handmade

I overheard my 3rd daughter talking to her imaginary friend. The conversation goes like this( after translation..:-) ) :

fren: Wahhh... you have such a cool dress , where did you buy it?

dotter: My mummy made it for me...

fren: you sure... its beautiful..can your mummy made such a beautiful dress?

dotter: sure my mummy can make many many pretty stuffs...

fren: wah... your mummy best la...

and the conversation goes on.....bla bla ...

i remember those old days when mummy's handmade was the 2nd class item. you will never wear or use your mummy's handmade with pride. i still remember i always hide the pencil case my mum made for me when i was like standard 2 or 3...i would never put it on the table... i would just take out all things that i need and hide it inside my drawer.but nowadays..handmades are treasures and we start to look at it preciously ...

cool fisherman net thread...

i need to start work now... just to eager to share about thist...but just now on the way to work i crochet a few rows of HDC as the base of a small back that i am currently working on..yep... i feel good upon finishing Alisha's sun dress yesterday...so i start a new one even there are still many WIPs in the row. ...:PPPPPP..

the thread is the fisherman net thread in , color is soft brown...very cool color... normally for fisherman net thread the common color that you can find is white, softbrown or greenish yellow. i bought this thread for other purpose, but last few week i drop by at YIYI craft in queensbay and found they have bunch of very attractive bags using some kind of string looks like rafia , but softer , in cool dark brown color... and guess what it take to finish one bag? 4 or 5 rolls of it and each rolls will cost you RM35 ... so you do the maths... the bags inspired me... and here i am now.. kicking off my new bag with soft brown fisherman thread that cost me less than RM5... i am confident i dont need another roll to finish the bag...one will be enough. so peeps... wait for the end result... need to work now... see ya then...

2nd day progress

i should has finished crochet this if only the thread not finish... hehehe...when i said that i just need one roll to finish it , i just nonsense..looking at this most probaby i will need another 3 or 4 more rolls to finish it, including the handle. i might need more if i change my decision and turn this bag into a sling bag. currently i plan to crochet this into a short handle handbag ( what we call it?) . i plan to go out tonite to se if i can find this thread in stock somewhere. This color is quite rare... dont know whether i can find it or not...and i always regret i did not buy enough at the first time... So this is the 2nd day progress picture.

Alisha's sun dress

This is a stuck 2 month old project. In the beginning i planned to crochet the bodice and knit the skirt but end up i became lazy and decided to sew the skirt.the plan turned out well at first , but i have to forgive my self for sewing it at thewrong side the skirt. I have put so much effort in making sure that right side looks right coz i crochet it in rows. so at the wrong side i just crochet the SC to make sure that The DC row is always at the right side... all the effort gone when i sew it using the wrong side... sob..sob.. its just to late when i notice it and i was just to lazy to open the seam back... so here it goes...hopefully it still looks ok..

burung hantu kiut

Gambar burung hantu yang kiut ni aku dapat dari satu magazine knitting edisi tahun 1982... bila pegang je pagenya terus berkecai.. hancur berderai... sebelum semuanya hancur menjadi debu aku sempat snap gambar ni...kiut kan? one fine day ( hmmmmm... one fine day? ) aku akan buat burung hantu ni... or sesapa nak try buat kalau dah siap nanti boleh share gambar ye...nampai macam senan je ni... nak kena disep piece per piece..

kait jarum dua : casting on dan casting off

casting on ialah antara langkah awal yang perlu dipelajari oleh pengait2 jarum dua ni... ( somehow term pengait ni mengingatkan aku pada satu cerita seram yang pernah aku dengar satu masa waktu kecik dulu)...:-) so sebelum pandai membuat baju... kasut atau apa2 yg kita nak buat ngan menggunakan jarum dua ni langkah pertama ialah casting on. terdapat beberapa cara casting on ni ..tapi antara yang popular ialah

1. kaeadah long tail. kaedah ni memang kemas dan akan menghasilkan bahagian bawah fabrik yang elastik... contohnya kalau nak buat stokin dan seumpamanya kaedah ni memang sesuai. cuma untuk kaedah longtail ni kena pastikan bahagian benang yang direserve tu akan menckupi untuk cast on sebanyak mana yang dikehendaki.

2. single cast on. ni cara cast yang paling basic.. paling senang tapi tak berapa kemas compare to longtail.

3. cable cast on - Thanks tu Sindar Ery from da'knit yang memperkenalkan aku ngan term ni... tak tahu pun selama ni kaedah ni namanya cam ni. But yang ni among cast on yang aku paling suka guna... very elastic... you tube kat bawah ni aku buat dlm keadaan tergesa2 sementara anak tido dan tak bising... sorry for the low quality video not so good sound... cikgunya pun tergagap2 ..maklum le tak pernah jadi cikgu..:-)

4. memula belajar knit dulu aku ni tak de guru... belajar sendiri je dari buku... maklum le masa tu youtube pun tak de lagi..so dalam terkehel2 sorang diri tu dapat jugak aku mengait beberapa item untuk baby first aku 12 tahun yang lalu. masa duk belek2 buku tu sampai sudah tak paham cammana caranya nak buat double cast on... so aku pun menggunakan kaeadh aku sendiri iaitu aku akan kait loosely rantai dengan jarum crochet , sepanjang mana yang aku kehendaki...kalau terlebih jng susah..bongkar aja..hehehe... pastu aku naikkan loop dari setiap lubang rantai tu dengan menggunakan knitting needles... tarraaaa... dah boleh mengait cam biasa dah...senang betul kaedah ni...banyak tahun jugakla ku mengamalkan kaedah hingga aku belajar kaeadh lain... mcam 2 benda jugak yang siap ngan kaedah ni.

untuk casting off pula ada pelbagai cara juga antaranya;

1. basic cast off

my yarn addiction is getting more severe

this is a common sickness among knitters and croheters... yarn addiction... we tend to buy yarns anytime we stumble with any promotion or discount and end up dunno what to do with that.. this afternoon i have spent RM 47 of my hard earn money to buy sale yarns...sad to say the yarn may exist before was know how to crochet...a very very old stock yarn that they need to let go... but the prices are not that cheap... but i still bought it...i also bought 2 cable needle 4mm and 3 mm just because i still dont have the size ... not because i want to use it... sob..sob.... so total spend out today is RM64... and still dont know what to do with all the item i just bought...

i need a space...(for my yarns)

we are a nomad living between 2 places... the initial idea is we will stay in our apartment on penang island on weekdays as it will be near to everything...school..nursery, babysitter....my workplace ( except my hubby workplace). Then we will be going to our real house on the mainland over the weekend...but the plan doesnt work well.. we r lazy to go back... we went back for a while just to check the house (even its just 10 mins drive ) then come back to our aprtment...and now with the 4 kids in 900 sq ft apartment we are having the space crisis. in the other house 1 have 2 rooms for my stuffs... one is the small bibik room downstair near the kitchen and another one is my sewing room. my runaway bibik use to call it bilik menyulam ibu... and its quite big 15X 15 sqft i guess..... with rack like craft shop...i even have one rack in the storeroom under the stair case to accomodate my crafts thingssss...(its a lot... i have a habit of buying and not using...hehehe). some of it is the leftover stock from my craftstore that doesnt really work well last time... i guess i pick not proper location and not agood biz plan.. its more like a wrong decision i had made to help a dear lifelong-fren who is later not helping me back...**sign*** so i close the store and have tons of craftng items not sold... i pick some of it and bring back to my house. i just lost the zest to sell it online...+ my bz schedule stop me from doing so..my mum said you can sell it in bulk with the cheap price to any craftstore... but i feel sayang with all those thng so that's it.. i just keep it..hehehe in my mums store in my hometown....
i need and advise how to store yarns and crafting items in my small room in the apartment without making mess and disturb my roomate...:-). how you guys store it?

the sun hat...

i just so fell in love with this easy to do sun hat... this isjust a basic hat what was modified lil bit and looks cool... i cannot help my self makin the second of it... still using the same yarn..peaches and cream and no 8 tulip hook. this one i started will waiting for my car radiator to be fix... just imaging this is the result of 30 mins waiting... superfast...coz the yarn is thick.. and the hook is big...hehehe... now i has to deal with my laziness to pick t back and finish it...:-P . it's just a few round to finish.. Let me share the pattern. Alla Koval the famous crochet designer has done a great job to reincarnate the super duper easy pattern ( i did when i was 12 and first learn to crochet) into a very sophistcated creation.

hi gals... i just found that my favorite yarn has the website...it is http://www.elmore-pisgah.com/index.htmn hehehee... silly ...who dont have website this days... currently i just have a few skeins left and i am desperate to have more...and i dont know when my hubby is going to US again... maybe not this year.. so i have to buy it online... but gosh... the price in the website is lots lots more expensive than the price in wallmart. for the cone one my hubby bought it at USD8 but they sell it online at USD11.25 while the skein of 70g my hubby bought at usd1.80 is sell at USD2.80 and sad to say... they just deliver to US and canada only. looks like my dear brother in Rochester has to help me already... but the shipment from US to Malaysia is quite expensive.... i m gonna burn hole in my pocket this month... or may i will buy it next month....kena control budget nih...

the purple booties...

Hi guys... lately i am hook up into crochet until i forgot about my knitting project. this is a very simple knitted booties that i am currently working on and hope to finish by this weekend. Hmmm...aan like others i have a syndrome of finishing one of the two in a pair... i hate knitting and crocheting things that have 2 in a pair... socks.. slippers ..what else..huhu... looks like i have to overcome it if i want to finish this booties.
this is the current work in progress... not so much yet... still not moving for quite sometime...

This booties made up from a verrrrry simple patterns suits the beginner in knitting... and the end result is quite impressive. What you need to have a pair of knitting needles. 3 mm will work out best but mine is slightly bigger...I tried to knit with satay stick but it turns out to be smaller.yet the sticth is neater.. so it means if you want to knit it using satay stick you need to cast on more than 25 sticthes.

yearghhh... i am writing this entrance while running a very high load report that took almost 30 mins to process..and i need to do it today. tomorrow is my judgement day in the week where every wednesday we have a management meeting and i need to share the scrap cost performance..and heck last week was a bad week.. and looks like i am gonna be torn into pieces by the other piranha tomorrow...:-(... oooh... i dont want to talk about this... i am still in the workplace now as i have to wait for my hubby to fecth me up today... my 8 years car is giving problem for the first time and it laid in the workshop now.. i think my car become jealous because now i dont have to spent my monthly wage on it anymore...that why la it start to demand for money...sob..sob..oooh... what i am babling about now....??

the (big) baby Beanie

Last weekend i have manage to complete this baby beanie... complete mean i sew the flower to the beanie while the beanie itself already completed 2 weeks ago... it goes well of my 6 years old daughter's head but im thinking of letting this go to those who want it.Even my baby looks cuter in it...:P
